Where is my wine stored?
Your wine is usually stored at the London City Bond (LCB) based in Tilbury, Vinothèque based in Burton-Upon-Trent or the equivalent. The Bonded Warehouses we use are world renowned for their storage of fine wines. Their custom built facilities offer state of the art storage that protects the provenance of your wine and maintains its value. Wines can only be removed or transferred within the bond environment with the owners written agreement.
How do I know the wine is what I have paid for?
When the wine is transferred into your storage account at the bonded warehouse you will receive a unique ‘rotation number’ for each case/bottle, which will appear on periodical statements.
How much does the storage and insurance cost?
Storage and insurance is approximately £15 per case per year. However your first year of storage and insurance is covered within our initial commission. How well is it insured?
Insurance is provided by AXA Group who has huge experience in this market. You receive full replacement value at full market price.
Does wine ever go down in value?
There are examples of individual wines dipping in value over the short term. However as long as you stick to buying wines from the very best Chateaux and the best vintages there will always be an upward trend. Growing consumption (Especially from Asia) reduces the supply dramatically and also wine improves with age so as time goes by you have a highly prized and hard to come by asset. These factors force the relative value of your wine upwards.
Can I be confident that your company won't go bust?
One of the many benefits you get when investing in the way is that you don't actually invest in The Premier Wine Company but the wine itself, so your money is perfectly safe and totally under your control.
Is this kind of investment really tax free?
Storing your wine in bond means there is no VAT or import duty to pay. By the same rule we sell all of our clients' wine whilst in bond also. This means there is no tax to pay on the sale either. Our compliance dept keep a close.
